My Latest Masterpiece
Hi all! Thought I’d update my blog with my latest artwork.
Now i know how Leonardo Da Vinci became an expert at painting…that’s all he did! If art was all you did all day you’d be as good as Da Vinci too and let me tell ya, being off of work for the last 6 months, doing nothing but art and art related things, I’ve noticed a huge difference in the way I’m able to translate my mental ideas to the visceral world of painting. I’m really proud of this work! It’s titled “Vignette #1: Skies and Eyes” and I’m hoping it’s the first in a long line of works showcasing small, descriptive, surrealistic scenes.

It’s 18″ x 24″, painted in acrylic on canvas, and I’m hoping to produce a limited edition poster print of it. Here are a few close ups showcasing parts of the work I’m really proud of.

Here’s a curious fellow from section 2, coming out from behind the veil to try and understand exactly what “cute” is. This idea struck me as worthy of being delved into further so I’m developing this section into a stand alone painting. We’ve been inundated by Dove soap’s advertising about natural beauty and what it means to be captial “B” Beautiful. Let’s see if we can take the concept one step further!

One of the best skulls I’ve ever done, not meant to be creepy or morbid but to call into question our mortality and what we do with it while we’re here. You’ll see that the gentleman beside him has the right idea.

The best hand I’ve ever painted! Based on my own (yes, I have very developed thumb muscles with bulging veins) it showcases a sparrow with a skull-face. I used a photographic reference to get all the details present in the final painting. While shooting the reference, that sparrow with the skull-face appeared out of nowhere and alit on my finger. Being a surrealist, I decided to use the experience and incorporated the little fellow into the reference. Once I was done taking photos he flew away as quickly as he appeared. Attention hound!
I hope you like it. Soon I hope to have that limited edition poster print ready for sale. Come back soon and check it out!
For now, that is all. Goodnight.
